AUCTION - Vietnam Day Committee - Jabberwock - Berkeley - 1966 Handbill - Good

This handbill is from Berkeley, California. January 17, 1966. Was the show date for an event held on behalf of the Vietnam Day Committee (VDC). They put on a weekly (Monday) gig at the legendary Berkeley club, the Jabberwock. The Jabberwock was a big part of the Berkeley scene at this time and the event featured a great dual lineup of poets and electronic musicians. How Berkeley can you get? Everything from beat poets to electronic music pioneers, like Morton Subotnick. Uncredited artwork is lovingly hand-drawn with just a touch of mid-1960s whimsy. Love the little oscilloscope! The Vietnam Day Committee was an instrumental part of building the groundswell that ultimately ended that war. This handbill measures approximately 8 1/2" x 11", approximately, and it is in good condition, with pin holes, corner tears, and paper missing in some corners from having been put up multiple times. We've never seen another. A very early countercultural/political piece.
