AUCTION - AOR 2.33 - Wild West Festival Grateful Dead Janis Joplin Handbill - Kezar Stadium - Excellent

This is an interesting bit of history in handbill form. Here we have a handbill for the Wild West Festival, which was to take place at the end of August,1969, at Kezar Pavilion in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA. The Grateful Dead,Janis Joplin Santana, Sly and the Family Stone were all scheduled to appear. Just a scant week after Woodstock. Unfortunately, this festival was canceled, due to discord among the promoters. Oh, but what a cool shindig it would have been! Groovy psychedelic unaccredited artwork. Interestingly enough, this festival was advertised on BG 180 in the Fillmore Series, as Bill Graham was one of the promoters. This handbill measures 8 1/4" x 12”. In excellent condition. Never put up. Just a few aging spots along the top and is curled from having been rolled. The poster for this festival is scarce, but this handbill is even more scarce. Unusual documentation of a show that never was.
